Millennium Institute to Partner with Ohio State University and Ohio University on Climate Change Millennium Institute (MI) will partner with Ohio State University and Ohio University on developing a climate change plan for Ohio businesses and communities. The universities have been awarded a $500,000 federal grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act State Energy Program. The project will identify policy options and perform an impact analysis to help the State of Ohio prepare for federal climate change policies. In a statement released by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Director Chris Korleski says, “It is important for Ohio to develop the appropriate tools to become effectively engaged in the federal discussions surrounding climate change issues, including possible federal legislation and current rule-making efforts by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.” In collaboration with the universities, MI will further expand the Threshold 21-Ohio model to allow the state to analyze the economic, environmental, and social impacts of possible climate change policies. The project will be directed by Scott Miller, director of energy and environmental programs, Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University. Joseph Fiksel, executive director of Ohio State’s Center for Resilience in the College of Engineering, will serve as deputy project director.
